Super Duplex 2507 Submersible Pump for Corrosive Seawater Conditions

Seawater pumps installed on offshore platforms must operate in an environment with high chloride content. For this European project, corrosion resistance was therefore one of the customer’s main technical requirements.

The supplied pump was a 900QBH2250-112/2 seawater submersible pump, manufactured with Super Duplex Stainless Steel 2507.

Super Duplex 2507 was selected because conventional stainless steel may not provide sufficient protection in long-term seawater operation. The material offers improved resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking.

In addition to its corrosion-resistant construction, the pump provides the large capacity and high pressure required by the offshore water system.

The final solution gives the customer a heavy-duty seawater pump designed for demanding marine conditions. Similar pumps can be customized for offshore platforms, seawater intake systems, desalination projects and coastal industrial facilities.
