For agricultural irrigation projects, the pump does not always need expensive stainless-steel construction. When the water source is suitable groundwater, a cast iron deep well submersible pump can provide an economical solution with the required hydraulic performance.
This was the approach used for an African irrigation project requiring a water supply of 65 m³/h.
The selected equipment was the 200QJ65-95-0-75kW.
The customer needed three things from the pumping system: sufficient water volume, enough pressure to lift groundwater to the surface, and a durable design suitable for regular agricultural use.
The 200QJ pump provided a 90 m head, allowing water to be lifted from the borehole and transferred through the irrigation pipeline.
Its 75 kW submersible motor is installed together with the pump below the water level, creating a compact vertical pumping system.
The use of cast iron also helped provide an appropriate balance between durability and project cost.
Once installed in the deep well, the pump can supply water to storage tanks or directly to the farm irrigation network depending on the site design.
For African agricultural projects where groundwater is used for crop irrigation, the QJ series offers a practical solution for combining deep-well extraction with continuous water delivery.
